A creative and dynamic 5-hour workshop designed for portrait, event and corporate photographers as well as serious amateurs. This course is perfect for those who want to develop their knowledge of location lighting.
The workshop begins in the studio where Rick Friedman will talk through the basics of everything that will be covered during the day and outline the itinerary.
Starting with how to create exciting light with just one Speed-light and progresses through to using multiple Speed-lights with different modifiers. Understanding when to use grip equipment the benefits of adding colours to your images and ends with mixing both speed lights and studio strobes. Attendees will learn the use of light meters and transmitters.
During the workshop, you will spend time in the studio and an outdoor location. Rick will share with you techniques and how to control your lighting. You will finish the workshop feeling empowered to capture great images no matter what lighting conditions you come up against. Rick teaches Canon, Nikon and Sony users
At this workshop, you will learn to mix available light and strobe. How to determine your foreground and background exposure and how to control each, by managing your strobes, light modifiers, and reflectors. Determine the best position of the light from side light, front light, fill light and background light. Understanding shadows, how to eliminate shadows you don’t want and how to add shadows to bring dimension to your photographs. Determine the best type of modifier for the given situation. Know when to use small & large reflectors and the use of diffusers.
You will be working with models and visit one outdoor location for the practical location part of this workshop. You will need a DSLR, CSC or similar and lenses in that cover 24mm to 200mm, a speed-light. We will have additional speed-lights, portable studio strobes, radios, various light modifiers, reflectors, and stands.
