This beginners photography class is aimed at total beginners who own a DSLR camera and want to unpack some of its amazing potentials. Participants will learn how to operate their cameras in manual mode, make correct exposures and understand the basics like aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
While your camera has a perfectly functional auto mode to simplify the picture taking process, if you want to get better images, you need to take control. That means leaving the comfort of auto and venturing into the other modes on your camera.
In this workshop, you’ll learn about exposure and how shutter speed, aperture and ISO interlink to affect the amount of light recorded. We’ll cover the metering modes on your camera so you know where it is reading the light from and you’ll also cover how shutter speed and aperture can be used creatively to dramatically change the look of a picture. You’ll also learn how to control where you focus on the scene, to ensure your subject is always sharp.
This is aimed at photographers that are starting out in their photographic journey, those who want to make sure they are making the most of their cameras and those looking for a good grounding in the basics of photography on which to further build their skills.
