In this Fast-Track Lighting workshop, you will spend 90 minutes in the classroom and three-and-a-half hours on location.

Rick Friedman teaches his style of fast, creative lighting.  In a short period of time, attendees will go from creating interesting light with a single speed-light to multiple light setups that mix speed-lights and studio strobes. Attendees will learn how to control their light will many light modifiers, going from hard to very soft diffused light.

You will learn to add colours to photographs and creating, projecting and using gels to colour their backgrounds and create the mood they are after.  They will also learn the use of light meters, radios and how to fire a remote camera.  We will have some wonderful models to photograph and lots of equipment to the attendees to use.  Rick will critique your photographs as the class progresses.

Location model shoot:  Controlling outdoor light! approx 3.5 hours

Late afternoon, sunset and dusk at several spectacular locations around the city.  We all know getting a great photograph outside in harsh light can be difficult. Later in the day when the shadows get longer, but you still have a bright light in the background.  As golden hour turns into the blue hour, you still have the challenges of bright light vs. shadows, just much less light to work with.  This workshop will address all these lighting issues.  At the end of the workshop, attendees will know how to handle these lighting situations.

Attendees will learn controlling light outside in any lighting condition to achieve to look they are after.  They will learn to how to add and balance strobes to fill in shadows, diffusing harsh light, reflecting light and using polarising and neutral density filters to control exposure.  At dusk, the attendees will learn using long-exposure for the ambient light and using a strobe to illuminate the subject.  Attendees will be working with speed-lights, portable studio
