This 4-hour workshop will be a hands on opportunity for beginners and intermediates wishing to learn or improve their studio lighting photography skills. The workshop gives an insight into various lighting capabilities, which is ideally suited to you and what to consider if you are thinking of buying some lights.

To benefit from this workshop, you should know the basic settings of your camera and how to shoot in manual mode. A camera with a USB port is preferable. Colin Hawkins will talk you through the essentials of lighting both people and products using both strobe and LED lights and explain the advantages and techniques involved for both systems.Part One:

A lot of recent debate has arisen about the benefits of both Strobe and Continous lighting. Photography traditionally used mainly strobe. Now we see more and more high-power, full-spectrum, daylight-balanced lighting sources come to market, the costs of continuous lighting are starting to fall. Colin will explain why both types have advantages in certain circumstances and when best to take an advantage in using continuous lighting in your work.

CONTENT:

·         Simple Studio Setups for product and portrait photography using two different light types (strobe/flash and LED)
·         Different light types and their respective advantages and limitations
·         Using reflectors, diffusers and using the right light modifiers.
·         Control and balancing of light and quality of light.
·         Camera control and settings
·         Tethered transfer to a laptop computer
