Waleed Al Riyami
Waleed Al Riyami has more than 22 years of experience in aviation. He has ATC ratings in aerodrome tower, approach control radar and area control radar. He also received an ATC instructor endorsement and a rated ATC examiner.
Waleed Al Riyami primary role as an Air Navigation Safety Inspector involves providing regulatory oversight for UAE various air navigation service providers and SAR. He also worked as Oman’s ICAO National Continuous Monitoring Coordinator and serves as the focal point for ICAO’s Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program and its Continuous Monitoring Approach (USOAP/CMA).
Al Riyami is actively involved in providing both regulatory guidance and safety oversight to ensure that UAE ATS and SAR providers adhere to UAE regulations and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices. In addition, he developed UAE UAS (DRONES) regulation, providing the regulatory GCAA oversight about the use of drones in UAE and the required safety parameters needed in order to make their utilisation safe and effective across various sectors.
Waleed is also responsible for overseeing the service provider’s Safety Management System including the effective implementation of innovative occurrence reporting and investigation techniques.
